The prego boat

So after talking to a few friends rocking the baby boat, I’ve realized that it’s super important to share and exchange stories. It really helps! We learn more, understand more and have someone to share the same level of excitement. I know I’m super emotional and can talk for hours about babies and pregnancy. Some people are interested, others are not. So it’s nice to be able to just gush about it all with someone who understands and agrees. It’s been awesome exchanging stories and sharing advice/tips. I also get loads of advice from friends / family that already have children. It’s a great time to share!

All the pregos/recent mothers around me currently:

Max – 18 weeks pregnant

Lanay – 20 weeks pregnant

Marissa – Baby Trinity is just a few days old

Lovene – Baby Andrew is now one month old

Vera – Baby Victoria is now 2 months old

Tammy – Baby Aiden is now 4 months old

Pregnancy symptoms – Remedies

Nasal congestion – invest in a humidifier

Stretch mark prevention – pure vitamin E, motherhood lotion

Sharp abdominal pain – your uterus is growing, get used to it :)

Prenatal pills – take them just before bedtime

Nausea – take a nap or eat something

December dress-up dinner

Michelle and I have always talked about getting dressed up and having a nice dinner. We’ve been meaning to do it for quite some time but never had the opportunity to do so until recently. We planned to meet up after work and head out for our nice dinner. I wanted to surprise her with the venue so I suggested that she meet at the condo.

Lawry’s was our destination. In the past, we talked about one day having dinner there to celebrate. So i figured this would be a great restaurant for this occasion. This year we have many things to celebrate!

Dinner was awesome! We each ordered a Lawry’s cut prime rib ( I knew I’d have left overs if I got that instead of the California) mashed potatoes, their cream of corn (my favorite!!) and a mushroom side.

We enjoyed an oh so yummy meal and was fortunate enough to befriend a couple next to us celebrating their 20th anniversary and a gentleman to our right who was a Lawry’s regular (1 – 2 visits per week). The gentleman, who I’ve named “Ralph” since he was wearing a Ralph Lauren sweater, was HILARIOUS. He began his dinner with a cocktail, gin on the rocks, and spoke to the entire staff like family members at home. He was friendly and funny and when we ordered his food from the meat carver guy “Alejandro” he insisted that we get a plate of their cream of spinach. Michelle and I were already half way through our meals and Ralph insisted that Alejandro split his spinach into 2 plates so that we may try it. Naturally, we said thank you and politely declined the offer, but Ralph was insistent. So we tried it. Mind you, we were already semi stuft from our meals. It was alright, not something that we’d order in the future though. I’m still a huge fan of the cream of corn.

Ralph was happy for the couple celebrating their 20th anniversary. Ralph also offered to buy the couple a round of drinks, but they weren’t drinking. Then he offered to buy them dessert, but it was on the house. He wanted so bad to get them something, because he said that seeing them made him happy. Even as far as saying, “20 years? You’re everything that I’ve always wanted to have but didn’t” Kinda sad, but he was genuinely happy for the couple. He told them it’s rare to see such a happy couple in this world, and it was a great sight to see. Ok, he was also a few drinks in, but he seemed quite genuine. The couple was embarrassed and thankful.

As dinner went on we got to talking to Ralph. He was really interesting. He knew the the entire history of Lawry’s and even pointed out that one of the hosts was the heir to the restaurant. He shared some stories about his life. He was super funny and overall a pleasure to meet.

Chelle and I got to talking about holiday dinners as we watched several families and friends get together for a nice Christmas dinner at the restaurant. They exchanged gifts ad shared laughs. It was a room full of holiday happiness. Cheers to another great night with a good friend.
