Michelle celebrated her 29th birthday with a bbq at her house. I love house parties because there’s always great food and everyone is in good spirits. Plus, the babies came! Hannah and Alana were there to celebrate too. It was awesome. Happy birthday my dear friend! Cheers to many more.

Background:
Perry and I have been friends for years, since our freshman year in high school. His wedding celebration was held in San Francisco. About 6 months ago we had dinner with Perry and Christina to celebrate their engagement, Matthew and Natasha’s engagement and my pregnancy. I asked if I would be able to bring my new baby to the ceremony in San Francisco. Understandably, Christina preferred no babies at the wedding. So at the time, Marc and I thought we could have our parents babysit while we flew up to San Francisco for the day to celebrate and fly back that same night.
Fast forward to just a few weeks ago. My baby boy Andrew is now here and is absolutely wonderful.
I’ve decided to breastfeed exclusively, which makes Andrew and I inseparable partners. I had been pumping so that we could give him a bottle of breast milk here and there. He was taking the bottle OK at first. We figured by the time it was June 19th, we’d be good. ERRR try again.
These last 2 weeks have been quite a battle. Suddenly, he refused to take the bottle. Marc and I were worried that he wouldn’t take the bottle if we left him with our parents… So what were our options? 1. Decide not to go to Perry’s wedding. 2. Bring Andrew with us and tag team taking care of him. Choice number 1 was just awful. I just couldn’t miss Perry’s wedding. He’s a great friend, and I don’t think I could miss out on this important event. Plus, Perry asked me to read during the ceremony. What an honor! So I really couldn’t miss it. We decided on choice number 2.
The plan: Take turns babysitting Andrew while the other participates in the wedding celebration. With the help of Matthew and Natasha, who had a room in the hotel where the reception was, we were going to make this mission a success.

We woke up super early to hit the road by 6am. We figured a normal car trip to SF would take about 5 hours, but we wanted to add some extra time for Andrew’s needs. The wedding started at 2:30pm so we figured we had plenty of time. Just as we hoped, Andrew slept for most of the ride. He only woke up once to eat and change.
We got to the hotel just in time to get ready and head to the church. So the first part of the plan was for me to participate in the ceremony while Marc and Andrew toured the USF campus outside.
The church was beautiful. Of course, I left the good camera with Marc (good job Marilyn
) , so I had to use the little camera which totally sucks at taking pictures from far away. Here’s an example:
Ok that’s supposed to be Perry & Christina. Joy and I were cracking up at how crappy the camera shots were. I need to steal pictures of the ceremony from Tash and Joy. I was nervous to do the reading. I couldn’t help but keep thinking to myself, “don’t trip and fall”. Geez. They did not have a full mass so the ceremony was short and sweet.
Afterward I met with Marc and Andrew and we headed back to the hotel for a quick feeding and diaper change. There was quite some time before the reception so we had lunch/dinner at Buca di pepo. Then we headed to Matthew and Natasha’s hotel room to set up camp. Matthew’s parents, Monica and Jeff were there too. We decided that I would take the first shift. I would watch Perry & Christina’s entrance, first dance and Matthew’s speech while Marc stayed with Andrew. Then Marc would stay for the dinner while I hung out with Andrew. Lucky for us, Matthew’s mom offered to stay with Andrew for a bit so that Marc and I could take a picture together at the reception.
So thoughtful. The crazy tag team babysitting plan worked.

On May 24 @ 11:30pm Bahareh and Arvin welcomed baby Aaron. He weighed 8 pounds & 22 inches long.
On June 1st @ 5:30pm Aaron had his Bris.
Bris: bris milah, “covenant of circumcision”; Yiddish, bris) is a religious ceremony within Judaism to welcome infant Jewish boys into a covenant between God and the Children of Israel through ritual circumcision performed by a mohel (“circumciser”). This happens on the eighth day of the child’s life unless health reasons force a delay, in the presence of family and friends, followed by a celebratory meal (seudat mitzvah).
Marc and I have never attended a Bris so we were excited to witness Aaron’s. It was a great ceremony. Full of cheer and celebration. We saw the Rabbi give little Aaron a circumcision in front of 50+ family and friends. After the ceremony everyone celebrated while Arvin gave guests blessings. It was a great experience.
Mazel tov!

The plans: Watch SATC2 and have a BBQ
Today I had my first outing without Andrew. I planned to watch a movie with the girls while Marc spent some QT with Drew. It was weird not having Andrew around. Admittedly, I thought of him constantly (even while watching the movie) and tried not to worry that he wouldn’t take the bottle. Marc had it all under control.
The movie was hilarious! Much needed laughter with my best pals.
Then it was BBQ time. I went back home to meet up with Marc and Drew then headed to Cousin’s for a yummy BBQ. The BBQ and chili were sooo good. Great times!

JC, Jen and the kids were in town to celebrate CJ’s 1st birthday. The celebration was at a restaurant in Glendale. When we got there, kids were everywhere. Super exciting. This was Andrew’s very first birthday party! It was great to see JC and the family. Lia is getting so big now and CJ is super cute. He’s got all his hair still! (ahem… lol) Can’t wait till Andrew is big enough to run around with the kiddies.

Jean-Claire was in town with her daughter Taylor and we had lunch at C & Os. We haven’t kept in touch since college, so this was definitely a great catch up session. We stuffed all our post college stories into our 2 hour lunch. It was great. We talked about motherhood, careers, relationships, the future… and of course “how did you and chino hook up?” haha. It’s awesome to see that we’ve both grown up. I can’t believe we’re moms.
Taylor’s super cute. She’s 2 1/2 years old and ordered a mushroom pizza, based on the mushroom picture on the kids menu. She really only liked the mushrooms… not the pizza part. Jean had to pick out the mushrooms and place them on Taylor’s plate. Super funny!
Andrew and I met up with Marc and Sharon for lunch at Fresh in the Box. Good times Auntie Sharon.
