Mr. and Mrs. Magcase

Exactly 9 years ago, Tricia and Jonas began their relationship; and on April 23, 2009 they officially became Mr. and Mrs. Magcase. We all headed for the Beverly Hills Courthouse to witness their civil ceremony. In attendance, Vince, Staci, Jarel, Ty, Bev, Ja, Tam and myself. Tricia and Jonas were dressed in matching Blue outfits, and she even wore the hair piece she wore at the Symbolic wedding in Cabo. She looked amazing, as usual. Here’s a sneak peek from the ceremony.

Afterwards, we headed to Cheesecake factory for some cocktails and appetizers. Then to Chakra for the celebratory dinner. It was wonderful to witness the civil union, celebrate with my bestfriend and the love of her life and enjoy the great company of my amazing friends. Cheers to Mr. and Mrs. Magcase!

Hi!

Sup peeps!

It’s been some time since I posted so I figured it’s my turn to catch up.

Last week, I was in Vegas to attend the Razorfish Client Summit.  They actually have real good conferences and this one introduced me to Dave Stewart (from Eurthymics).  He was hilarious.  He had never given any sort of presentation before but here he was because he is (supposed to be) a creative genius and he was attempting to showcase his thought process to everybody.  He showed us a bunch of random “commericals” he did back in the 90s and you could tell he was greatly affected by all the drugs he took :)   Let’s just say he showed a video of a scrotum and a spider coming out of a penis…hilarious.

Anyways, the highlight of that conference was Marilyn coming out to Vegas to hang out with me.  That was amazing.  We didn’t stay at a fancy place (Bill’s Gambling Salon?  lol used to be Barbary Coast) all to save my company some money.  I won’t even bother discussing that lol.  Let’s just say that when Marilyn told the cab person to go there, the woman asked if she was sure because she didnt seem like the type of girl that goes there.  Grrreat.  Sorry love…that place was pretty ghetto.  Blame IBD :)

Oh yeah, I flew to Las Vegas…by way of Salt Lake City.   LOL…once again…don’t ask.  If you do, I’m saying mileage run.

Let’s see…what else.

I went to this awesome clinic on Saturday…I’ll write about that in another post.

We also went to Jonas’ birthday celebration on Saturday.  That was pretty fun.  Lots of great food…a lil bball…getting hit in the eye (it’s all good Robert :) )…flip cup…contagious laughing…it was pretty dayam great.

Happy Birthday Jonas!

Since Marc’s parents were super enough to drop off the invitations today, some of the girls and I decided to get a jump on the invitation making. Cousin Chelle and I headed to Tricia’s for dinner and some good ol craft action. Staci was going to meet us after she had dinner with her mom. Tricia hooked us up with pancit palabok, lumpia filling, spam and pot roast. Oh man… stuft! Afterwards we started to piece the invitations together. We had to glue the main part to the goldish part, then that part to the pocket fold, then put the inserts in order and finally stuff the pocket fold with the inserts. We first tried to glue the main part to the goldish part with glue gun… eerrr, bad move. They looked crappy. Super crunchy and thick. Plan B: use Elmers white glue. Errr… bad move number 2. The paper started to look wrinkly. First 5 invitations, the practice ones, go to the bridal party. lol. So we called up our Crafty Queen Staci and she hooked us up Martha Stewart style. She broke it down by paper size, type of glue and thinkness. haha. She’s GOOD! So Tricia, Cousin, Chelle and I headed to Office Depot to grab some supplies. Afterwards we went to Bobaloca for some late night refreshments. Tricia jacked up 2 orders ;) , and Mr Alba had to redo them. haha. Sooo funny. Finally we headed back to the Magcase house to get our craft on. Staci arrived shortly afer, and we had the assembly line going. After 4 bottles of rubber cement, Nugget’s farts and much laughter…we knocked out all the invitations in less than 2 hours. Whoo whoo. There are still a few things that we need to complete, but the bulk to the work is done. Thank you thank you!

Our star shots pose (Tricia look forward please. haha)

Baby Shower for CJ

This weekend Marc and I went to SF to attend JC and Jen’s baby shower.

We flew Virgin America. This wa my first Virgin America flight. Man oh man… it was awesome. When you walk in, its like a lounge. Purple and blue lighting and slow grooves playing. I attempted to play games during the flight, but passed out. haha. I can’t wait to fly with them again. We stayed at the Marriott in Burlingame and rolled around SF in a Black Sebring from Massachusetts. The Sebring was too small for Marc. He keep hitting his head in the car. haha.

Saturday morning Marc and I woke up to a foggy SF. Surprise surprise. haha. It was supposed to be a sunny day in the city… but it didnt start till around 11.  Good thing I brought my coat last minute. We went to visit Cheryl at her new apt. We had never seen her new place… oohhh weee. She’s got a sweet new pad in the heart of the city. Since she works at Twitter she was telling me all about it and totally sold me on it. I’m now a new member of Twitter: xsmallmarilyn.  We got to catch up a bit until Bern arrived for brunch. The girls took Marc and I to Boogalos in Mission. We ordered some yummy food and played a game of catch up. It was great to see them both.

Then Marc and I decided to roam around the city to take pics until 1pm. Cheryl gave us directions to the Golden Gate bridge so we headed that way. The closer we got, the colder and foggy it got. By the time we arrived to the bridge, you couldnt even see it. It was completely covered with fog. Good thing I took pics of it while on the road. Then we headed to the Marina, watched a few sail boats and saw little kiddies play soccer.

Afterwards we headed to Burlingame for the baby shower. Burlingame has the cutest outdoor shopping area. When we arrived at the Rec Center we saw Lia at the craft table. We said our Hellos and played with Lia. Marc handed her a present, a new stuft monkey, and she said “Thank you Ninong”. Suuuuuper cute. She’s way big now. It was really sweet to see Marc play with her.

We got to catch up with the Santos’ and found out that they’ve got a name for their new baby boy, CJ: Connor J (to be determined) Santos. Jen’s only got a few more weeks until the little guy says hello. It’s so nuts. The shower had tons of food, pancit palbok, lechon, even McDonalds Chicken Nuggets…. hello… genious! It was all yummy.

Then they started the games. Marc participated in a few of them, but lost. He played the “Hip Hip Hooray” game, and the “Number groups” game. He was even caught bullying a little kid just to win but to no avail. He wasn’t able to score on any of the $40 cash prizes. hahaha. I entered the “guess the number of bottles in the box” game and won! $25 baby!

Charmaine showed up with her family too. I haven’t seen her since college. It was crazy to see her with Isaiah, now 2 and half years old. She’s also getting married the same day Marc and I are getting married. Marc and I played with the kiddies for the rest of the party. We all went home t take naps before dinner. JC, Jen, Dante, Jamie, Marc and I had a tasty dinner at Lark Steak House in the city.

It was good trip to the city by the bay.

When Marc and I got home there was a box sitting at the front door. We weren’t expecting any packages so it was exciting. Mindy sent me a presentfor my bridal shower. She won’t be able to make the party but generously sent a present anyway. She’s so nice!

Thank you Mindy! You’ll be missed at the party.

Dinner with the Magcases

We finally had dinner with the Magcases: Tuffles + FJ. Marc and I wanted to take them out to dinner to celebrate their wedding. Unfortunately, Marc waas unable to go to Cabo, so this was our way of celebrating with the 4 of us together. Dinner was HILARIOUS. From, Tricia pushing bread crumbs under the bread plate only for our server to find her little crumb stash later, Marc making the wine selection, “Alcohol germs kills”, trying to explain DIYE (Dookie in your ear) and more. I can’t wait to have more frequent dinners with some of my favorite people. Cheers to great friends and great times.

Here’s Tricia’s recap… she’s better at telling stories than me. haha.

It’s been quite some time since my last post.  I’ve been busy and lazy.  There’s so much to catch up on. Hmmm…  I’ll post and back date the posts so everything falls in the correct order.

Saturday April 11

Happy Birthday Bev!

Marc and I decided to go on a little adventure with Nikki. We hopped on our bikes and rolled to Rite Aid. We usually go West and head toward the beach, but we wanted a different route, a change of scenery. I had been craving Thrify Chocolate Chip ice cream. I truly believe they have the BEST chocolate chip ice cream out there. The chocolate chips are just the right size! We get to Rite Aid and I head inside for some ice cream goodness. Marc and Nikki chill outside to guard the bikes. For whatever reason, Rite Aid was busy. There were like 7+ people in line. It was Rite Aid day or something. I walked over to the ice cream stand, only to find that they are out of Chocolate Chip. How sad!!! Adding to the sadness is that their ice cream stand wasn’t even filled with ice cream. They had like a total of 8 ice cream choices. Bummed! I decided on a Mint Chip and Cookies and Cream double scoop. It took a while for the ice cream lady to help me out.  Scoops are no longer 25 cents like the good old days.  I paid 1.61 for my double scoops.  Headed out and shared with Marc. We went home took a nap and got ready for Easter Dinner with the Geraldez’.

When we got home, we sat down with Marc’s mom to complete our loan applications. Whoo whoo. We’re one step closer to owning our first house. We’re really excited. Since Marc’s mom is also a licensed travel agent, she was hooking up with stuff for our honeymoon and our 2010 Europe Trip. If you wanna join in on our 2010 European Adventure, let us know. The deals are awesome right now. We’re stoked. Dinner was yummy and the family shared funny stories!  Like when the Marc, Kim and Courteney were kids. Or the “twin”. Hilarious! We cleaned up and headed to Easter Vigil.

Easter Mass began outdoors and then moved into the darkened church. We had our candles lit and prayed. Our candles had those circular wax catching things on them to help prevent getting burned. It worked for a bit, but man my fingers got jacked. haha. Wax was everywhere… and HOT! I kept burning myself. At one point, Marc’s candle was burning too close to the wax cacther thing and it caught on fire. He had to blow it out right away. Haha. Shortly after, nearly the same thing happened to me. 2 candles down. I looked over at Kim’s candle, and her’s was still tall and burning all nicely. Maybe she held it differently? All I know is that my candle and Marc’s candle looked like a big waxy mess and they were too short to hold. hahaha. There was also this little girl, maybe 3yrs old, sitting in front of us. Super cute… she was throwin wax pieces at Marc. Soo funny. Mass was running long, naturally, and she was getting tired and restless. Her grandma was trying to help keep her in line while holding her candle. Skills! At one point, the little girl took wax pieces and squished them between her lips and they looked like teeth. Marc and I totally lost it… its was the funniest thing ever.  The choir sang a few songs that Marc’s mom suggested for our wedding. They were pretty. I hope to go over more songs so that we have great music for our wedding celebration.

Sunday April 12

Happy Easter!

Marc and I woke up early and just relaxed before our day started. Just before noon we headed to Albertsons picked up a few things and headed over to my parents house. When we got there, my mom was finishing up the steak. Yummm. Cousin, Jose and Danny arrived shortly after with dessert! Marc said Grace and we enjoyed another yummy meal. Man, home cooking is seriously the best food. Danny ate a mini chilly that my mom picked from the tree/bush in the backyard. She even packed him a little baggie of them. lol. We all planned to meet up later to watch a movie at AMC. We all had tons of free movie passes that we needed to use up, so we decided to watch Fast & Furious. We planed for an evening movie since Marc and I already had plans to go house shopping. We all split up and Marc and I went driving around Culver City and Westchester. Sadly, there weren’t very many open houses. One hosue that we’d be wanting to see was actually open for viewing, so we were excited. What a tease… the house wasn’t nearly as awesome as we had hoped. It was marked up so much, we figured it would be super nice inside. Nope! still lots of upgrading to do. Totally not worth the price. Our house shopping ended early, so we headed to Century City early. Man, I love that mall. It’s totally be done up, thanks to Westfields. We called Cousin and luckily they headed to the theather early too. Yippee. Marc and I were walking around and we walked by the Ummbra Grill. They had a supe cute outdoor seating area and a full bar. I say to Marc, “cute day bar”. Marc’s response, “want a drink?”. I love this guy…. hahaha. We sat down and perused their daily specials. I chose their Mango Martini… super yummy. Marc had a Captian and Coke. Cousin and Jose finally arrived. Cousin went back to an oldie but goodie Tequila Sunrise and Jose braved the “DUI” drink special: 7 hard liquors – white rum, dark rum, Captain Morgan, Amaretto, Southern Comfort, Triple Sec, Tuaca and a few squirts of fruit juice. Bleh. The movie waas entertaining!

Goals for a First Ironman

I was reading Triathlete magazine and encountered this article that talked about goals for a first Ironman and just wanted to share.  Thought it was funny, but true.

1. Finish.

2. Finish while still standing.

3. Finish while still standing and smiling.

4. Finish while still standing, smiling and in good enough physical condition to bypass the medical tent for food and a massage.

5. Finish while still standing, smiling, bypassing the medical tent and remaining gainfully employed.

6. Finish while still standing, smiling, bypassing the medical tent, remaining gainfully employed and married.
