Baby is moving

… and grooving. Ever since Marc felt baby move last night, baby has been just a little ball of energy. Just bouncing around and making sure momma knows he/she’s in there. It’s really funny. It makes me laugh, because baby is just all over the place.  I always try to acknowledge baby’s movements. I’ll talk to baby or if I’m at work or for some reason can’t talk to baby right then, I at least rub my belly to let baby know I’m aware. I don’t want baby to think I’m ignoring him/her. I think its important to let your baby know that they’re not alone and that momma is paying attention. It’s definitely a happy happy moment.

Belly rubbing

So now that I’m starting to show, people are more inclined to rub my belly.  Some people will automatically reach out and give my belly a little rub, some will ask politely before and some will be too scared to hurt me or baby. I think baby is lucky to have people that want to say hello. I’ve read that some mothers-to-be are split on the issue. Some are all for it and some feel its a total invasion of personal space. I wasn’t sure how I felt about it until recently.

I’ve decided that I’m ok with friends giving my now rotund belly a little rub a dub dub. Just as long as they’re not trying to butter me up like a butter ball turkey. I figure its their way of showing baby some love. I’m all for any positive vibes coming baby’s way.

Last night, while Marilyn and I were chilling on the couch watching TV, we finally felt the baby kick…several times!!!  All the  books we’ve read stated that parents usually begin to feel their baby’s kick starting Week 18.  There were multiple times before when Marilyn thought she felt the baby kick but wasn’t sure since it didn’t happen again.  But last night, after she felt the initial kick, she took my hand and placed it on her tummy.  Closed our eyes to concentrate and all of a sudden, felt that little nudge near my thumb.  Exciting!!!  I started talking to the baby and placed my hand on the tummy again and then felt the little nudge near my pinky!  It was really the awesomest thing in the whole wide world!

Saturday November 28

So Marc and I totally woke up early today. He planned to go on a 11 mile run while I take Nikki for a little stroll around the Marina. Marc walked with NIkki for a block before he said goodbye and went onto his run. That totally confused Nikki. She started to follow Marc and pulled me forward. I was like, “No, Nikki. We’re going this way” and attempted to turn around to walk around the Marina Plaza. Every few steps Nikki would stop and turn back to find Marc. Then I’d have to give her a little encouragement and try to tell her Marc was coming back later. She was not having it. For nearly half of our scheduled walk she kept stopping and turning back waiting for Marc to appear. It was really sweet actually. After we turned a corner I think she finally understood and enjoyed the remainder of our mini walk.

When we got home, I fed her breakfast I ate breakfast number 2. Then I got to cleaning. for real cleaning…. bathroom, kitchen, bedroom… done! Even dusted and reorganized cabinets. I soooo much more productive in the mornings. I always have been. It probably started when I was younger. Growing up, every Saturday morning we’d wake up, eat breakfast and do our weekly chores.

Then we headed to Rudy’s to get Marc a little hair action taken care of. I think he looks more handsome with hair :)

So today is our ThanksMas dinner with our friends. ThanksMas dinner is our holiday party for the year. Staci and Vince host the party at thier house and we all bring a yummy dish. This year Marc and I are contributing lumpia. I called my mom to have her help me make the mix, her lumpia is always so much more tasty then mine. When I spoke with her, she had already made the lumpia for us. Whoa! Thanks mom! My mom is such an early bird. She woke up at 5am and finished the lumpia mix before we even left the condo for our walk. She rocks!

Since dinner was around 5pm we decided to hit up my parents to fry to lumpia around 2pm. Until then, I watched 50 first dates while Marc napped. We rushed over to my parents and started frying. Man, it took us forever. We had the flame on too low. some of the lumpia started to unravel and we even burned some. It was so funny. They looked so unpresentable, but my friends are awesome and will eat anything that tastes good. whoo whoo!

We rushed home, got ready and when April showed up we headed to the Magcase house. ThanksMas dinner was soooo good. There was so much good food. Turkey, pancit, mac and cheese, veggies, stuffing, prime rib, breadpudding, pumpkin cheesecake… and more! Tricia led the prayer and we ate! It was great to see everyone and catch up and eat and share stories.

Then is started getting late, by my pregnancy standards, and we started the White Elephant gift game. OMG! This was by far one of the funniest White Elephants i’ve participated in. The White Elephant rule was to bring a gift between $5-10. The gifts were as follows (i forgot some of them):

1. Lottery tickets

2. starbucks mug and coffee

3. starbucks cocoa mix

4. Jack Daniel’s flask filled with Jack

5. Bright green boxers

6. Gingerbread house

7. Water bottle

8. Gift wrap

9. Subway sandwich

10.Wine tags and coasters

11. Toilet… yes, a new full working toilet

I got the Jack Daniel’s flask… the only pregnant lady got a flask full of alcohol. haha

Marc stole Tricia’s lottery tickets, only to have them stolen by Albert. So he ended up with the toilet.

It was hilarious!!! We were all on the floor with tummy aching laughter. It was another fun night with friends.

Man, I think I’m still stuffed.

Unfortunately, Marilyn had work yesterday.  She even went to work early to see if she could leave early.  I went for a ride and run before heading over to my parents.  We hung out for a bit before heading over to Mass at 10AM.  Had a great lunch with the family and grandparents.  Even got to squeeze in some Star Wars on the Wii.  As usual, there were the bouts of hysterical laughter always found in my family gatherings :)   I love it.

After work, Marilyn and I decided to take a nap.  We woke up just in time to head over to her parents to help set up for dinner at 5PM.  It was pretty cool because Jason and Regina were able to partake in the dinner festivities.  I have a soft spot for green bean casserole and Regina happened to bring that dish…sweetness!!!

The best thing about Thanksgiving are the leftovers :)

Hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Wii Fit

So in attempts to help vamp my exercise Marc was awesome enough to buy me a Wii Fit. We finally hooked up Wii, got a hold of my controllers, charged the batteries and was ready to get fit! For those that have never played Wii Fit before, you need to set up your profile before beginning so you have a baseline in weight and fitness level. I picked my Mii and started going through the various exercises to obtain my baseline. The results are as follows:

  • My balance favors my left leg
  • My BMI is good
  • I’m just barely normal weight, but my ideal weight is 119.0 pounds (by who’s standards? I’m 4 months pregnant and im not even close to 119, yet)

After Wii calculates all the figures your Mii images changes to reflect your baseline. My image got shorter and skinnier. Grreat! (*sarcasm)

Marc was up next. He hopped on the Wii and started the exercises. First, his big ol feet don’t even fit on the Wii. They slightly hang off the top and bottom edge. Haha. Then, the Wii couldn’t read Marc…. Marc’s results are as follows:

  • Balance was nearly spot on with a slight right leg favoring
  • BMI is good
  • Weight was considered “Obese”, and his ideal weight should be 148 pounds. (HAHAHAHA. Are you serious?)

Then Marc’s Mii plumped up and got chubby. HAHAHAHAHAAHA. We both fell out laughing. It was the best thing ever.

Hulu

is perfect! So Marc and I don’t really follow any television shows on a weekly basis. While there are shows that we like, we don’t schedule it into our day. If we catch the show, then awesome. If we miss it, oh well. Often, we’re busy doing other things: training, napping (I’m allowed, I’m pregnant) playing with Nikki. So when Hulu came out, it totally changed our television watching style. Sometimes, when time permits, we eat something yummy and play tv catch up. It’s the best! We just get super comfy and enjoy relaxing time together.
