Close Call

Just had to share this crazy experience Marilyn and I had Friday night.  We were driving towards Staples Center to watch the Lakers play the Clippers.  As usual, I was taking side streets because I hate being on freeways when it is slow.

So picture this.  We were driving on Venice towards downtown LA.  As you may or may not know, Venice (past Arlington) is a 2 lane street each way.  We were on the fast lane when 20 feet ahead of us (on the street perpendicular to Venice), a white Honda barrels through the stop sign and makes a right turn.  Right behind that Honda was a white Ford Bronco, which also barreled through the stop sign.  When the Bronco made the right, he took a wide a$$ turn.  Now this was all happening within seconds and we were still moving…Marilyn and I saw the Bronco take the turn and started to drift towards us.  Now thankfully, there was no oncoming traffic so I swerved to the left to avoid getting hit.  For a brief moment I really thought we were going to get hit because there was a point in which both our cars were side by side and Marilyn could have reached out and touched the Bronco.  Traffic stopped for a brief second and then the Bronco took off again to chase the Honda, which had made a right on the next street.  We saw the driver of the Bronco as he passed us and he had the focus were nobody else really existed…he was focused on catching that Honda. After catching our breaths and letting our hearts slow down (since they were beating pretty damn fast), we decided it was probably a good idea I didn’t honk (everybody behind us did) at that car since it was definitely on a mission.

It was a lil too much excitement for us but thank God we didn’t get hit.  Nothing like nachos and beer at the game to calm the nerves a bit :)

I’m so sorry you both had to go through that experience…I could only imagine what the both of you were thinking during the moment and afterwards. Thank goodness you are both safe and that God was looking over the two of you.
